hey everyone! after a long search of a body for my shadow i have found one not rotted out and with very minimal rust for these cars being plagued by paint peeling. :D

anyways, i'd like to ask some opinions here. the whole reason for finding the blue car is to replace certain body mods to my red car that cannot be removed. however, there are some aspects i liked about the red car's body kit such as the wing (its an actual wing off the evolution lancer) and the sideskirts. so i guess the question is.. ditch 'em or keep 'em?

here's some pictures of the "new" car and the red car.

long story short:
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/1/web/229000-229999/229772_60_full.jpg

basically i really want to tone this down. the amount of scoops annoy me now. unfortuanlly, most of the body kit is perminatly attached to the body so i was forced to find another body. lol!

Why didnt they just get and EVO since the wing and the hood match one.If the hood has the vents in the back side it could help out a little and well the front bumper isnt that great looking at all.

I can only imagine the purpose of that. I'm guessing that's for when your A/C breaks down and it's really hot outside.

If it were me, I'd transfer all your good parts to the blue can and set the red one on fire. :p

Yeah the blue car is a beauty. Transfer the drivetrains and sell the red one to some kid :P

Ditch everything on the red car except the drive train. Make sure what's left of the red car gets crushed so no one will have to endure the pain and suffering you just bestowed on us.

When did that happen to your car (the accident)? The blue car does look pretty good. I guess it depends if you want to keep 4 doors, or go with 2. How is the turbo project coming along?

I like the blue car better. Like mentioned swap the drivetrain from the red car to the blue car

Shadow24
01-02-2007, 02:23 AM
it all depends what look your going for. im not too keen on the roof scoop, but the skirts and hood looked ok to me. not a big fan of wings due to the purely asthetic use sub-80+mph. i personally am gonna go for a nice clean look on mine, i.e. sleeper. BTW, you gonna stuff the 24v into the blue car then? :D (what year is the blue one, due to the K-member/A-arm differences)

I had an identical blue/silver Shadow ES. Very cool, loved the paint scheme. Dropped the body a little, installed fat tires/pumpers.IT WAS HAPPENIN!! Mine was a V6 with "turbo flow" muffler,IT SNARLED:D
You certainly won't miss all that body work come wash-n-wax time.:thumb:

yea i like the blue car, but I dont like the silver bottom. Im not a fan of 2-tone, I would paint it all one color.

thanks for the input. :)

the blue car is a 1992. and yes, that'll be the car getting the 24v engine eventually. for now it'll get the drivetrain that's in the red car. (3.0L A543 with turbo) what i like best about the blue one is it's already a stick! i had to convert the red one over. oh, and the red one was not in an accident. i just started to take it apart...and realized that i was going to need antoher car to fix this. lol! the rear window is taped over because that window motor quit working.

the blue car will need a new paint job. it stated to peel off on the roof; but it's not terrible right now. however, i believe the only way to fix it is to take it down to metal and reprime it then paint it. (as it was chrysler's primer that caused the paint peel, right?)

Shadow24
01-02-2007, 01:15 PM
i thught the primer was fine but that the final coating sucked *shrugs* my primer is still there where the paint peeled away lol.

92, hmm. stronger cast A-arms and K-member i believe, but rear discs were circa 93 IIRC (still want to get some rear discs myself) and i like the shadow grill better than the plymouth one :) maybe ill pick one up for my car....

also, where did you pick up those skirts/ground effects? those off a similar car or somesuch?

Yeah the blue car is a beauty. Transfer the drivetrains and sell the red one to some kid :P

Exactly. The red one... well, looks like someone molested a poor shadow with a supra's front end.

Besides, nothing pishes off a ricer more than a fwd 4-banger that looks nice, but isn't riced out with non-functional body parts.

If it were me, I'd track down '89 CSX body pieces for your new blue shadow. That is what i hve always wanted to do, but couldn't afford to do so.

Directconnection

thanks for the input. :)

the blue car is a 1992.

You sure that's a '92? I thought the '90 and '91 cars had the silver gfx, and '92 and up were body coler? I could be wrong... but that's what I have seen at the junkyards many, many times.

who put the R/T badge on the shadow? never seen that one before :-p

boostboy
01-02-2007, 03:36 PM
Id take the drivetrain form the red car and thats it. I really like a sleeper look and the shadow's with the full GFX and fog lights look decent stock. You might want to try and find an 89 CSX grille and wing, they really ad a lot tot the shadows. If you really want to spend the money you cant go wrong with an 89 CSX-VNT bodykit, they are plain sexy.

dodgeshadowchik
01-02-2007, 03:41 PM
the build date on the car is 6/92. so it's either 92 or 93.

shadow24: do you want a shadow style grille? i have 2 of them now. heh!
the entire bodykit was actually off a mistubishi eclipse. (95-99) the front bumper is going in the trash tonight. :thumb:

a csx bodykit would look very nice! perhaps that's just what i'll do!

as for the r/t badge... i have no idea. maybe it's one of a kind. ;)

Shadow24
01-02-2007, 03:51 PM
if you go CSX, maybe ill take the body kit, sans front bumper lol, off your hands :). donno when mines going to the colleges autobody shop for paint and dent/rust fixing though (makes sense to get it all painted at once). a shadow grille would be most appreciated! just let me know what i owe you :D btw, does the blue car have rear disc or not?

dodgeshadowchik
01-02-2007, 04:01 PM
it does not; but it will get rear discs. i have a setup from (i think) 89/90ish shelby daytona.

let me know about the kit... cause it looks like it'll end up in the trash at this point. (or...want the car's shell? it's rust free. lol!) i will also go dig up that grille later and make sure it's not damaged.

Shadow24
01-02-2007, 06:22 PM
hmm, just thought about it, think the kit will work on a 2dr?

i actually think that ricer shadow is interesting. it looks like a well done job from the pics. get rid of the wing (or find a low profile one that flows with the organic lines of the body kit). i've seen some k cars on cardomain that were trashed by kids trying to make them look sportier and failed miserably.

Aries_Turbo

put all the good stuff on the blue car. the side skirts are kinda nasty on the red car.

 yes it did!

and for shadow24: yes they will..as they originally were for a 2door car.

If want to go for an '89 CSX body kit, check out the vendor forums on TD.com, they are no longer available, but someone there is getting some commissioned. Looking for deposits by the 15th. The front air dams are still available, as is the rear wing. I have a '93 shadow, and am going to remove the side skirting like what you have on the blue car. I don't like the wavy/bubble look it gets over time. I got some side fx from a CST-T I plan to put on. The rest of the '89 CSX kit, especially the front with the different grill, look good. The original sides from an '89 are no longer available.

update on my blue car!

i've been playing around with some stuff called POR-15. Completly dissembled the rear axle and restored it.. complete with a rear disc swap!

Also bought a new gas tank and POR-15'ed that too.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/2541000-2541999/2541269_6_full.jpg

The beater Neon also got some new "racing cuda stripes" with the leftover POR-15; as they say you shouldn't reuse it. lol!

POR 15 is good stuff! Just watch getting it on your skin as it's next to impossible to remove. I'll be using quite a bit of it under the Spirit when I start the floorboard repair.
FWIW, you can store it after it's been opened. As I recall they say to keep it sealed and referigerated.

Speedeuphoria
05-12-2007, 07:49 AM
Yeah that stuff makes a mess and will harden up like crazy even if you leave the can open for an hour or 2(film on the top).
Whats that in the 2nd pic?Looks like a rear swaybar, never seen that before?

What ever happened to the red car?

dodgeshadowchik
05-12-2007, 09:09 PM
oh, that's the front sway bar in the second pic. i'm painting up quite a few pieces. the whole underside the car will also be done in por-15. And i have learned about the staining this stuf car do. i have a few spots.

as for the red car; the blue one is its replacement. i've decided to tone the body down. the red one had some modifications hat were perminate... so i had to find another body. i have to say, these cars are getting hard to find not rotted out!

Shadow24
05-13-2007, 01:55 AM
whered you get the POR-15? local hardware store or Home Depot or the like? ive used similar stuff at work, and since im doing some work on mine, i probably should do something like that.

you mean this one:
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/1/web/229000-229999/229772_154_full.jpg

of course now this car is no longer. that same setup will be in the blue car, tho.

as for where I got the Por-15. i got it from the internets. http://www.por15.com/ i couldn't find anyone that carried it, really.

Whoa, you got a 3.0L turbo car? Sweet! :thumb:

MiniMopar
05-13-2007, 11:11 PM
Yeah, I've kept old cans of POR-15 around for a long time. As long as you pour the stuff out of the can, rather than dip the brush right in, and put suran wrap between the lip and the can when you push it back on, it will keep up to a year or more in the fridge. If it gets a little heavy, add some of their thinner in.

BadAssPerformance
05-13-2007, 11:23 PM
That might be bad being in the fridge late at night after arriving home from the bar and in need of some chips and salsa... ;)

dodgeshadowchik

no it didn't. the rollover valve was bought at the dealer.

oh, and thanks everyone for the advise on keeping por-15. :)

I'm doin the rear disc swap on my 86 C/S. Any headaches?

dodgeshadowchik
05-15-2007, 03:36 PM
i don't think it will be done in time for sdac-17. maybe next year. it needs things such as new paint still.

as for the disc swap... actually it was easy if you discount the fact i mistakingly used the drum hubs first, which stick out ever-so-slightly more than the disc hubs. This would not allow clearance for the calipers to mount up correctly. :p long story shot: pay attention!

Bringing this back from the dead. Going to make a real attempt at bringing this car back to life this year, since the Talon is done. Finally. I can't believe it's been this long....

Oh, and it's not longer a 3.0L project.. I've since got a PTGT 2.4L engine for it along with an A555 trans. I guess the first step is to fit the engine, then find someone to paint it.

Shadow24
11-08-2012, 05:50 PM
any particular reason you decided to go 2.4 vs 3.0?

dodgeshadowchik
11-08-2012, 06:24 PM
Laziness for the most part. ;) There's more available for the 2.4L than the 3.0L.

Shadow24

nothing wrong with being lazy, and the aftermarket does indeed suck for the 3.0 compared to the 2.4...
