View Full Version : T-M Exclusive : L Body White Gauge overlays w/ EXTENDED MPH Markings

Let me start off by saying thank you to the staff of T-M.com. They are allowing me to run this group buy without having vendor status. For that, I am making this first batch of gauges EXCLUSIVE to turbo-mopar.com members.

What we have here are CUSTOM white gauge overlays for the L body cars. I have extended the MPH readout to 145mph. They install on top of you stock gauges. It is essentially a prettier version of what Shelby did with the L bodies and the sticker they put on the cluster lens.

They are made of a thin vinyl plastic with adhesive on the back. It is VERY flexible and moldable. Installation consists of installing the overlays on TOP of your stock faces, and using a bit of heat to mold them to the curved shape of the L body gauges. Fully detailed picture instructions ARE included with every gauge set. Installation should take no more than 20-30 minutes once you have the gauge cluster out of the car. These DO NOT require the removal of the needles. I made them specifically so you would not have to remove them.

The kit consists of:

85MPH Speedometer (original style layout, not extended)
Tachometer w/ small fuel gauge
Small temp, oil pressure, and battery gauge overlay (all one piece)
85MPH EXTENDED Speedometer
Full Color Instructions

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/9580/crw7059uy7.jpg

The images show broken needles. It was a spare cluster, and I was not exactly careful with it while I was taking it apart to start the design of the white guages.

The pricing is as follows:

$40.00 shipped in the lower 48
$45.00 shipped to our friends up north

I have 20 sets in hand. To start shipping them, I need to have 10 confirmed buyers. Once we have 10, I will provide my PayPal information. Once I have collected funds, I will ship them out. Shipping will be via USPS, so I will be using the PayPal confirmed address.

So lets get this started!

P.S. - For all you Canadians out there, I have not forgot about you. The person that sends me the metal face plates (only those, I don't need the cluster) and lets me keep them gets a free set! I don't like shipping anything larger than a letter across the border.

P.P.S. - If a T-M admin wants a set or two of these in exchange for vendor status, I am game! :D

How hard are they to stick onto your gauges? I'm thinking I may want a set if they aren't too hard to do.

smdandb2
12-30-2006, 04:54 PM
They are real simple to install. Essentially in the kit I give you an extra overlay to try first before using the real ones. This gives you the feel for the material and how it acts.

As for everyone else... here comes the fun part.

PAYMENT DETAILS:

My PayPal address is jdre1134@comcast.net. Each set shipped in the lower 48 is $40.00 shipped. If you want two, send me $80.00. Its that simple! :)

PLEASE, make sure your PayPal shipping address is correct. I make a living buying and selling on eBay, and I can not count how many times in ONE day I get orders with the wrong address in PayPal.

As for you few that are paying with cash or money order, please PM me and I will give you my mailing address.

Once the payments start rolling in, we are set. I am planning on shipping the majority of these by the end of next week.

Thanks!

I spent all summer going to his place on the weekends. You don't need to tell me how much of a stud he is. Question to anyone who might know: Are there two different speedo's that require different Speed/Distance sensors?

Sorry for the delay in shipping guys! I have been super sick this whole past week.

All that paid with PayPal should have got a shipping confirmation email. They all go to the post office tomorrow.

I have not received any money orders yet.

Once I receive all the payment for this first batch, I'll let you guys know what I have left and you can pick them up. Once this first batch is gone, I want to work on the Canadian friendly versions and get a buy started for them.

Thanks!

Question to anyone who might know: Are there two different speedo's that require different Speed/Distance sensors?
I'm not 100% certain but I assume it's a different speedo assembly for Canadian cars. The point where US cars hit 85mph is about 100mph on our clusters. And ours read to 110. Speed distance sensors are all the same with the different coloured gears attatched. But with only 3 different colours I think they're all the same as US cars. So the difference has to be in the speedometer itself.
Meaning to use a US overlay, you'd probably need a US speedo assembly as well. And vice versa for using one of our 110mph speedo's in the US.

In that case it's nice that us Canucks have the option of a KPH overlay :thumb:

Whorse
01-09-2007, 03:13 PM
I thought so. I noticed my GLH seemed to go higher on the speedo than the ones in the display from the US.

I just tried the practice overlay. It's not as hard to do as I thought it would be. The speedometer is probably the hardest one to do because of the little rivets on each side. If you heat it up right, it will form over those rivets. You won't even be able to see the rivets once the gauge is put back in the cluster because the gauge is bigger in diameter than the hole it sits in.

EDIT: Here are my before and after pictures. Too bad I broke my tach needle. :(

how did the mileage on your trip change 10miles though?? :-)

I was wondering the same thing. The only thing I can think of is the hair dryer blew the needle around quite a bit while I was heating up the decal.

BTW, can the tach needle be taken off? I tried pulling on it. I was scared to pull too hard.

Mopar_Nutz
01-27-2007, 08:00 PM
I didn't break any of my needles. Just use a knife or something to get underit and pry up right next to the stalk that it goes onto.

I think the milage rolls forward very easily if you push it by accident. Just doesn't roll back.

88_pacifica

There should be a flat on the shaft that the back of the needle fits into. If you need a tach I think I have a couple they dont work but the needles are good.

Whorse
01-27-2007, 11:08 PM
I didn't actually take the speedo one out, only showed how I took the others out. It's a bit tricky and you don't want to damage the spring. The rest just take note of where they go, mark them, take a picture, or turn your car to accessory and put them at 0 (not voltage of course). Fuel is a tricky one. Last time around I just filled my car up and set it to where I wanted it to be when it was full.

I need a new tach needle. I could send you a couple bucks if you send me one. That would save me from getting one out of a junkyard car, if I can even find one.

smdandb2

Actually, you shouldnt have to remove any needles to install the gauges.

The holes are cutout JUST the perfect size to allow the overlay to slide over the base of the needle.

I had a little trouble around the tach and had to slit the overlay at the top cornres of the two warning lights with an exacto(My fault not the products fault).

Have them laid out. I need to convert it to my other program, but I don't have it at home.

As for putting the KM/H overlay on a MP/H cluster, its not gonna work.

Got mine today too... Agreed, they look very professional. I am actually very surprised with the excellent quality as well as the natural OEM style appearance. I figured it would at least look very "simple" with minimal directions, but these are masterfully done! Excellent job in managing this one Justin!! :thumb:

Here's an idea.....make some white A-body overlays with 150 MPH speedos for us Spirit R/T owners!!

If you could do a A-body overlay, I'll take 2 sets!:D I have been wanting white face gauges for years now, so I just stopped looking.
