Hey everyone. I need to put tires on my 1985 Lebaron Gts Turbo this week and have some questions. I need a good tire that can perform in the upstate N.Y. winters but also gives me good performance on the dry. I am a High School student that is currently making full use out of school shop privledges. The teacher doesn't mind one bit because I purchased the car from him but, security isn't too happy and I need to move the car soon. The size is 185 70 14. I just got a lead on some Toyos for 100 bucks and was wondering if they are any good. Also, maybe someone that lives in the Rochester N.Y. area has some good used tires for sale. Thanks for the help and sorry for the rambling. Gts

I've always been a BFGoodrich fan but there are several different tire companies that make good stuff. Check out www.tirerack.com and www.discounttire.com because they have decent rating systems and also customer reviews too.

Also, I moved this thread to the 'tires' forum so it should get better traffic for ya :thumb:

A good winter tire and summer tire is the Nokian WR's. There expensive, in my SUV size, P235/75R15-they retail at $180 a tire but dollar for dollar, you won't a better tire. There unreal in the ice and snow and don't squeal in the summer. I drive my Jimmy hard and tow with it, the last set I got around 80,000 km's. There rated for 100,000 km's.

Plusses for
Tire Rack. You can mount and balance at school? I get Pirelli's (4000's)? from them. Good in dry and wet and snow. I used to use Goodrich but the last set had super hard beads and I had to seal them to the rim with contact cement. The dealer even installed a second set with the same results.
