Will an SRT-4 exhaust manifold/header bolt up to a '95-'99 DOHC head. There are a lot of options if this is possible.

it has been done look on neons.org in the engine swap area

It can be done but its not a good match, port wise. Also, you need to mod or remove one corner of the manifold for it to fit, Drivers side. I just had one in my shop, 1st Gen Neon with a SRT turbo and manifold. The port mismatch is awfull. Best bet is to buy a conversion header.

I have a Mexican manifold now but I want something with a place for an external wastegate. Could an SRT-4 manifold be ground to match the port roof (I'm guessing this is where the mismatch is)?

Or is it the older head port shape that has to be cut to match the SRT4 header?

If the header is bigger than the head it's OK to leave the head alone. The header just can't hang into the port opening.

I think the SRT is rectangle and the 99 head is oval. I don't think you can grind enough to match them up?

Yes, it is port shape that is different, but I have heard that you can cut the head enough to match.

why not just get a newer head?

Non SRT heads are dime a dozen and flow almost as well.

uhhh I find more 2k+ heads in my J-yard than the 95-99 stuff. $45 a pop.

Wow, lucky guy, I see none of that stuff and if I do, they want a mint for it, :(

if you want one simon let me know and I'll grab one and you can pick it up next time you race down here :) I think with manifolds it was like $65

Sure, I could always have some head, :eyebrows:

I'll be doing the SRT manifold/turbo on a 96 Neon head, a local friend did it on his Neon, it works pretty well.

The SRT manifold port is bigger, Neon port smaller, a "good" mismatch if there is such a thing...

THAT is the answer I was looking for. :thumb:

It fits! I just got one of the AGP manifolds for my Rampage. It has a port for an external wastegate and I'll be using an ATP V-flange adapter and O2 housing for an SRT-4. The extra bolt holes in the manifold don't interfere with anything (although they're pretty close to my oil drain fittings). It's a readily available alternative to the Mexican Mopar manifold. :thumb:

The 95-99 head has plenty of room to grow ;)

Im finishing my header this week, looking pretty

There is definately alot of room to grow in the side walls of the ports. Here are a couple cut aways.
